dc.description.abstractAs far as periodization of the development of legal regulation of the institute of guardianship on Belarus territory was not researched it is proposed to hold such the periodization. Based on the above, there is a proposition to start the periodization of legal regulation of the institution of guardianship for minors from the period of Privilege Law (XIV – XVI), due to partial reception of Roman Law rules in the sphere of guardianship for minors. The second period is the Statutory Law (1529 – 1840). The beginning of this period concerns the fact of enacting on the territory of Belarus the Statute of Grand Duchy of Lithuania of 1529. The end of this period associated with the decrees (1830 and 1840) which terminated the action of the Statute of Grand Duchy of Lithuania of 1588. The third period is the Prerevolutionary Law (1840 – 1917), which is associated with the termination of the Statute of Grand Duchy of Lithuania of 1588 and spread on the territory of Belarus the legislation of the Russian Empire. The fourth period is the Soviet Law which started in 1917 due to the victory of the October Revolution in 1917.
