Анотация
A letter in Belarusian prose o f the first decades o f the 20th century is
a dominant idea in plot building and an effective means o f characterization.
At the beginning o f the century it was basically a “chronicle” o f private
life against a public background. In the era o f the “triple” war, letters
were included in the complex art system o f spatio-temporal relations; they
convey generalized-and-personal perception o f events and more vividly
reveal the trajectory o f the individual into a new life and the nature o f his
participation in it. In the prose o f the 1930s, epistolary elements serve as a
means o f artistic representation o f the moral component in the concept o f
hero and society.
